Britney Spears' "Hold it Against Me" Leaves Fans Anxious for New Album - Associated Content

Despite her personal struggles over the last few years, Britney Spears continues to have a loyal and devoted fan base. On the verge of releasing her 7th studio album, the
singer's fans are eagerly anticipating the project after hearing her first single, titled "Hold It Against Me". After demos of the song were leaked online, Britney officially released the track on Monday, January 10th. The entire package is slated to drop in March.

While the new album from Spears is sure to please her loyal fans, it likely won't revive her singing career. Why? Because it's nearly impossible to go back to being the world's #1 music sensation ten years after the fact. Like a lot of artists, Britney experienced her peak early on. However she was different in that her high point wasn't comprised of a hit song or a really good year. At just 17 years of age, Britney Spears became the most popular singer in the world. From 1999 up until the year 2003 the U.S. was one of many countries that became home to Britney-Mania. You can't exactly repeat that.

Britney is now 29 years old, and she can't fall back on her former image to sell records. Additionally, some feel that the singer already revived her career with 2008's Circus album and its accompanying tour. It was during this time that Spears made tremendous improvement in her personal life as she was recovering from the meltdown of the previous year. In early December 2008 she released her sixth studio album and it was well received by fans and critics. As the lead single off Circus, "Womanizer" hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. It was Britney's first single to do so since "...Baby One More Time" in 1999. Additionally, Spears' comeback album would debut at #1 on the Billboard 200, earning her a spot in the 2010 Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest female in history to have five albums debut at number one.

Britney Spears' New Album Dropping March 15! - Just Jared

Britney Spears still-untitled LP is set to be released March 15, a label rep confirms to MTV News.

The 29-year-old pop princess' seventh studio album will feature tracks from super producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke, among others, along with three or four additional tracks.

Choreographer Brian Friedman recently teased what fans can expect from Brit's "Hold It Against Me" video.

"She's taking fashion risks. Things we've never seen her wear before she's wearing in this video, and I think it's just very sexy and it's a little bit playful," Brian told MTV News.

"She's going to be doing something in this video that we've never seen her do. I'm not gonna tell you what that is but she's going to be sweating and she's going to be getting bruised and battered," he added.
